WHAT IS EPAT?
Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT) is the most advanced and effective non-invasive procedure approved by the FDA. EPAT utilizes a unique set of shock waves to stimulate metabolism, thereby enhancing blood circulation and accelerating the healing process. The EPAT procedure is based on the principle that damaged tissue needs blood flow to gradually regenerates and eventually heals which is exactly what the EPAT does.
EPAT can be used to treat most any musculoskeletal injuries or problems that affect mobility, pain or function.
The effects of EPAT often begin to show after three sessions, and in fact, some patients report immediate pain relief after the first session. The EPAT procedure eliminates pain and restores full mobility, with over 80% of patients reporting significant pain reduction. EPAT is a non-invasive procedure, and there’s almost no side effect with the procedure. Some patients may experience slight discomfort for a couple of days, and it’s normal to experience some residual pain after an intense exercise or an entire day of work.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH EPAT
EPAT treatment sessions are between 15-30 minutes, depending on the disorder to be treated. The procedure involves the application of ultrasound gel to the specified area followed by the release of pressure waves to the affected areas in circular motions.
The success rate of EPAT makes it superior to more traditional methods. Also, it leaves no scars, results in faster healing, carries no risk of infection and does not require anesthetics.
EPAT FOR ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION
One of the novel applications of EPAT is in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Shockwave therapy applied to certain parts of the body results in the formation of new blood vessels which improves the flow of blood to such regions. Applied in low intensity, EPAT can be used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
Blood flow is critical to a man’s erection. When a man gets sexually stimulated, arteries widen and the penis is filled with blood, giving it the firmness required for vaginal penetration. A man that has problems with the flow of blood to the penis may have weak erections or no erections at all.
